Harrisburg Area Intergroup (HAI) was formed in 1980 to serve the growing population of AA groups in Dauphin and Cumberland counties. HAI provides prison outreach services, 24 hour hotline assistance and current meeting schedules.

There are currently (as of 2013) 35 home groups on the intergroup registry. HAI meetings are held the first Thursday of each month, beginning at 6:30pm at the 19th Street Fellowship House in Harrisburg. HAI pays monthly rent to Alanon, Inc for use of the meeting room as well as an office where the literature inventory is stocked and sold to individuals and groups. At one time, volunteers manned a telephone in the office for 12 step calls; however, this practice was discontinued in the 1990's with the addition of a cell phone (AA Hotline) to be carried 24/7 by individual group memebers in order to provide immediate assistance to callers.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Welcome. And please keep coming back.*
